are you decorating obsessed?

August 21, 2017

I am!  Oh my gosh, there is nothing I love more than talking about, thinking about and DOING than home decor...especially in the vintage style. Not only do I have a ridiculous magazine and book collection for inspiration, I also am pretty addicted to a couple of podcasts on the subject.

A few weeks ago, while listening to  a Decorating Tips and Tricks podcast on small house living, I responded to the hostesses with an email describing our cottage home that's been under renovation. Kelly and Yvonne (two of the hosts...the other is Anita)  both emailed back and asked for pictures. What followed was an exchange of LOTS of pictures, and  then a very nice feature on Kelly's blog  My Soulful Home.

While we are still finishing our renovation, it was such a joy to finally share some of what JR and I have been doing as we transform our 1928 cottage on Lake Ontario. And, are you like me? Decorating even before the trim is done?  Every other day, I sneak something else in the house even though are kitchen isn't even done yet!

So, you can read Kelly's post about our home here:

My Soulful Home

And be sure to subscribe to and listen to their podcast:

Decorating Tips and Tricks

and one of my OTHER favorite podcasts:

Little Yellow Couch

There are LOTS of episodes here to catch up, just like marathoning the Beverly Hills Housewives, you can load up on some of the best decorating conversations with interesting style experts and binge away! I LOVE this podcast, which features some very awesome vintage decor icons.

And speaking of decorating, did you know that I offer in-home consultation services for using your own decor and changing your style?  Just this week, I met with Mary to assess her layout, and discuss some changes that she could make to create a more cohesive and functional home.  After moving around some furniture and accessories, her space makes more sense! She'll be continuing to transform her cottage with some of the ideas that we discussed...paint, a few new accessories and some additional furniture pieces.  I checked in with Mary a few days later when we delivered a great painted dresser for a bedroom. She had already gone to buy some new lampshades, slipcovers and paint. Already, we were excited to see what a difference a few changes made in her cottage, and Mary was in such a better place because she had a plan and a direction.

Interested? You can always reach out to me to discuss how we can help you with your home decor needs.

And one last thing...since so many of us share a love of vintage decor, I was thinking that it would be great fun to get together once a month just to chat and share ideas over snacks. Just vintage decor lovers hanging out together! Wouldn't that be a blast? What do you think?

I'll be excited to reveal another little group of workshops in the week ahead, so stay tuned, happy decorating and joyful painting to you!
